The entertainment industry lost a beloved talent with the passing of actor and comedian Hiram Kasten. Known for his work in stand-up comedy and appearances on popular TV shows like “Seinfeld,” Kasten left a lasting impact on those who knew him.
Despite battling a multitude of illnesses, including prostate cancer, Kasten continued to pursue his passion for comedy and acting. His dedication to his craft was evident in his work ethic, often performing in multiple shows in a single weekend in various locations before returning to Manhattan for late-night sets.
Kasten’s move to Los Angeles in the 90s allowed him to expand his acting career, landing roles in hit shows like “7th Heaven,” “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” and of course, “Seinfeld.” His portrayal of a co-worker of Elaine Benes on the iconic sitcom showcased his comedic talent and versatility as an actor.
In 2012, Kasten and his wife, Diana Kastenbaum, relocated to Batavia to be closer to her family. Despite his health struggles, Kasten remained active in the entertainment industry and continued to make an impact on those around him.
