Stand Up NY Comedy Club Moves to Times Square
Are you a fan of stand-up comedy? If so, you’ll be excited to hear about the legendary comedy club Stand Up NY’s big move to Times Square! After 38 years on the Upper West Side, Stand Up NY has relocated to a new spot in partnership with the Italian restaurant Bond 45 inside Hotel Edison at 221 West 46th St.
The club, which has hosted iconic comedians like Jerry Seinfeld, Jon Stewart, and Amy Schumer, had its grand opening in Times Square on March 14th with headliners Ari Shaffir and George Wallace. The move comes as owner Dani Zoldan felt the need to refresh the brand and adapt to the changing post-COVID landscape.
Zoldan, who is known for his work in promoting Jewish comedians and causes, sees the move to Times Square as an opportunity to tap into the energy and tourist traffic of the area. Despite leaving the heavily Jewish neighborhood of the Upper West Side, Zoldan plans to continue booking Jewish acts and hopes to attract Jewish audiences to the new location.
In addition to the Times Square venue, Stand Up NY will still cater to the Upper West Side crowd on weekends at a location near Lincoln Center, set to open in May. Zoldan believes this new location will be more accessible to their existing audience and align well with the cultural offerings in the area.
Overall, the move to Times Square represents a new chapter for Stand Up NY, bringing comedy to the heart of the New York entertainment scene. With a mix of iconic comedians, fresh talent, and a commitment to Jewish comedy, Stand Up NY’s new location is sure to be a hit with both locals and tourists alike.
